The gift of encouragement
Each year CDM hosts an annual Valentine's Day event. This year is no different. We had an awesome time this evening with games, food and a word of encouragement on how "Love never gives up."
We started having this annual event a few years ago when we discovered that the "Gift of Encouragement" would go a LONG way to help individuals struggle with the whole Valentine's celebration either because they are single wanting to have someone special in their life, or married and struggling with wanting to stay married.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT says we are to “Encourage each other and build each other up,....” and Hebrews 3:13 VOICE says we are to "Encourage each other every day..."
It is always meaningful to encourage someone after they’ve done a good job, or gotten a really cute outfit, it’s even MORE important to encourage someone INTENTIONALLY just because God is encouraging your heart to do so.
Ephesians 4:29 TLB says we are to "Say only what is good and helpful to those you are talking to, and what will give them a blessing."
Imagine how God might use you to ENCOURAGE someone to never give up on themselves.
Think about how much of a DIFFERENCE you could make to someone by praying for them as God directs.
Or God might use you to bring HOPE to someone struggling to get a job after you tell them how you’ve overcome the same challenge.
You can be the DIFFERENCE between someone giving up or staying the course.
Be WATCHFUL. Be PRAYERFUL. Be READY. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:6).
You may get together with a friend and pick up they need someone to LISTEN.
You might encounter a total stranger at the check out line, and one word of encouragement might make ALL the difference.
You have no idea what God might do in someone else’s life through one simple "Gift of Encouragement."
BE AVAILABLE for God to use your words to bring healing.
Remember that Proverbs 12:18 says "Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing."
Give the Gift of Encouragement this Valentine's season and see how an individual can experience hope, wholeness, and peace.
