CDM BLOG: "You Are Anointed"
INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHTS:
I love the Christmas holiday. My children know beginning in early October I start watching Christmas movies while I work out on the treadmill. I can't get enough of this special time of year. I enjoy how the day after Thanksgiving, the radio stations begin playing Christmas music and churches have their singing Christmas trees. I love sending out Christmas newsletters and catching up with family and friends. I especially enjoy celebrating Jesus birthday.
In high school, I was in several choirs enjoying the challenge of singing in harmony. Each year we would sing Handel’s Hallelujah chorus and I have been blessed hearing it sung in many a Christmas concert. The lyrics are a beautiful reminder that Jesus Christ reigns for ever and ever.
In the beginning of my walk with Jesus Christ, I thought Christ was Jesus last name. I soon discovered while reading the New Testament, that there were many titles for Jesus of Nazareth—“Son of God,” “Son of Man,” and others. However, the title that is given to Jesus most often was the title “Christ.” Through my study into the meaning of this word, I discovered that when the new Testament speaks of Jesus Christ, it is saying “Jesus the Messiah,” which literally means, “Jesus the Anointed One.”
Jesus Christ was anointed by God, with the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News and free those who have been held captive by sin (see Luke 4:18-19; Acts 10:38). After Christ left the earth, He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit (see John 14:16). Now all Christians are anointed, chosen for a specific purpose in furthering God's Kingdom (see 1 John 2:20). "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee" (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
This year as we wrap up our 2016 CDM theme "Embrace your God-given Destiny," God has been stirring in my heart to pray we all move into our purpose, no matter how overwhelming it may seem to be. He has me declare that we will all tap in to God’s inexhaustible flow of the anointing so that we can fulfill what He is calling us to do in this life. My decree each day for you has been “You are anointed to walk in confidence, boldness, and authority. God is doing extraordinary things through you.”
This month of December as you celebrate the birth of the “Anointed One” remember that Jesus Christ came so that we could be anointed for a specific purpose in furthering God’s Kingdom. I challenge you to see yourself doing everything God requires you to do and declare the victory…because you are anointed to fulfill your God-given destiny!
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” (Luke 4:18-19 NLT)
