Seize the day!
January is my opportunity to reboot at work. All my programs kick off in full swing in the new calendar year and I traditionally find myself extremely busy launching the various programs.
That’s probably why I enjoy focusing on fasting and praying at the start of a new calendar year, as well. It’s a chance for me to reboot spiritually by slowing down the pace, so I can seek God, be still in His presence and receive fresh clarity.
This year’s theme for Cindy Dennis Ministries is to Seize the Day inspired by Luke 9:62 where Jesus said, “No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God's kingdom off untiltomorrow. Seize the day. (MSG)
Seeking God’s presence has made me realize the importance of seizing the day. He has reminded me once again that faith "is" action. It’s not procrastinating and putting it off to next year or next month or tomorrow. James 2:17 says “Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?” MSG
Jesus always seized the moment. He made time for other people. He talked to them, fed them, healed them, and forgave them. He would often meet their physical needs in order to address spiritual needs.
It’s now or never! Let’s seize the day! Every day, there are opportunities all around you to make an impact and to let your light shine. Ephesians 5:15-17 challenges us “...to be careful how we live; be mindful of our steps. To make the most of every living and breathing moment. To understand and be confident in God’s will, and not live thoughtlessly.” The VOICE
Let’s focus on what God is doing right now. Choosing not to get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. (See Matthew 6:34 MSG)
Let’s make time to engage with others. Seize the moment to stop, listen, and talk with someone you see every day but rarely slow down to get to know.
Decide not to procrastinate. The truth is, you already know the right things to do and the benefits of doing the right things in life. So why don’t you just do them? (See Proverbs 6:4-14)
Choose to seek God first. Ask him to give you the wisdom to know when to interrupt your schedule in order to bless those around you.
